In 2012 my media professor told the class to start a blog, Revolutionary In Pink Pumps was my experiment in race and fashion. Since 2012 this blog has grown into a space for the discussion of race and culture, lipstick and beauty, feminism, and just life in general.
There’s always something for everyone on this site, whether you’re looking to boost your self perception with some body positivity, read up on some new injustice in race and gender, or just want a place to sympathize with your natural hair struggles and lipstick obsessions. Whatever is written on this site is done so with the hope of sparking a conversation. The goal is not to tell you you’re wrong, it is just to give you a different perspective on it. I started this space because I think spaces for girls like me needed to exist. So yes this is for the feminist, the revolutionary, the beauty junkie, and the fat chick. This is Revolutionary In Pink Pumps.
I’m just a girl with a loud mouth who loves to write. I have a degree in Journalism and Professional Writing with a minor in African American studies. If I happen to be neglecting this blog, it’s because I’m busting my butt as an editor over at Jawbreaker.nyc. I believe in giving a voice to cultural issues, it’s my passion, but somewhere in between I’m also obsessed with lipstick, fat girl fashion, and self love. My 9 to 5 is educational advocacy, but my goal is to work in editorial. I’m always happy to contribute to other sites so don’t be afraid to reach out to me! You can read some more of my writing here.
